Deputies arrested a local man after he allegedly gave officers his twin brother’s name when being arrested.

Derrikk Crawford, 21, address unknown, was charged March 25 with tampering with records.

According to a complaint from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford gave officials the name of Jordan Crawford — his twin brother — when he was told he was being charged with having an open alcohol container in public.

Officials booked Crawford under the name of Jordan Crawford, who is currently incarcerated at the Anamosa State Penitentiary, the complaint said officers later determined.

The report said Crawford gave his brother’s name because he was wanted for escape by the Iowa Department of Corrections.

Tampering with records is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years in prison and a maximum fine of $6,250.
