The state Board of Regents voted unanimously Wednesday to approve the honorary doctorates of two University of Iowa alumni.

Jerre L. Stead and Richard Meyers will be honored with doctorates of Humane Letters degrees at the spring commencement ceremony.

Stead, a native of Maquoketa, IA, is a former CEO of AT&T Global Business Communications System and helped the UI Tippie College of Business establish the Stead Technology Services Group.

Meyers was born in Iowa City and has acted as mayor of Coralville, a member of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, and a member of the Iowa City Chamber of Commerce. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1994.
