Final Alibi, a quartet of Iowa City natives, will perform at 5 p.m. Friday at the Blue Moose, 211 Iowa Ave. The all-ages show, featuring opening acts Weekend FM, Less Than Yesterday, and Tasty Trigger, will cost $6.

Traces of screamo, hard-core, and pop-punk linger in Final Alibi’s songs. The band’s 2009 début, War Against the Setting Sun, reflects the influence of a plurality of rock genres on the group’s sound, a characteristic lead singer Adam Jennings cites as a distinguishing factor.

Tracks such as “Should Have Taken the Stairs” convey the dynamic energy latent in the band’s sound. Beginning with Jennings’ plaintive singing over Jamison Pickett’s acoustic guitar, the song ultimately erupts into a wall of sound as drummer Derek Rowedder’s snare roll leads to bassist Matt Peterson’s entrance amid a wash of cymbals and Pickett’s distorted electric guitar. In a word, Rowedder has described the band’s live show as “awesome-core.”
