Business dean to retire

The dean of the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business will retire at the end of the 2011-12 academic year.

William Hunter, 63, as been at the UI since July 2006. He listed several accomplishments in a press release, including expanding the college’s global presence, adopting a new business model for the business program in Hong Kong, and revamping and enlarging the M.B.A. program.

Prior to 2006, he was the dean at the University of Connecticut business school and held several senior positions with the Federal Reserve System in Chicago and Atlanta.

Hunter and his wife will split their time among Chicago, North Carolina, and the San Francisco area.

He will continue to serve on several boards and will serve as the president of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society for two years beginning in 2013.
