A severance agreement for Chad Simmons, the former University of Iowa Health Care associate vice president for human resources, included a $450,000 severance as well as an agreement to provide numerous letters of recommendation.

According to documents, UI Vice President for Human Resources Susan Buckley, UI Hospitals and Clinics CEO Ken Kates, and UI Vice President for Medical Affairs Jean Robillard, all provided letters of reference for Simmons.

Last week, the UI hired Jana Wessels, who had been serving as interim in the position, to officially replace Simmons.

The reason for Simmons’ resignation, who resigned on May 18, 2010, remains confidential as stated in the agreement.
