Paul Bobek, the Iowa City School District’s executive director of administrative services, discussed the School District’s property-tax rate at a School Board meeting on Tuesday.

Bobek told the board that he wanted the rate to stay at around $14.69 per $1,000 of property valuation or lower.

“We’re in a very enviable situation here in Iowa City,” he said. “Our taxable valuation continues to grow.”

The School Board plans on setting April 12 as the date for adopting the 2011-12 budget. A public hearing is scheduled for that day as well.
