Iowa City police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian downtown.

According to a press release, officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run at the intersection of Burlington and Gilbert Streets at 6:30 p.m. March 4.

The release said a 21-year-old man was crossing the street when he was struck by a silver SUV.

The SUV did not stop after hitting the man, and the release said the car was last seen traveling southbound on Gilbert Street.

The pedestrian was treated and released from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
