West High was one of six Iowa high-schools recognized Wednesday for having one or more students in the graduating class of 2010 to earn a 36 composite score on the ACT college admissions and placements exam, according to a press release.

Other schools honored were Hempstead High, Indianola High , Sioux Center Community, Southeast Polk, and West Central.

In Iowa, eight high-school graduates out of more than 23,000 tested and only 588 out of more than 1.5 million in the 2010 graduating class earned a top score, the press release said.
