Iowa head women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder has locked up her first commitment of the 2012 recruiting class.

Kali Peschel committed to the Hawkeyes this past weekend following her on-campus visit. The Sauk Centre (Minn.) High School point guard also attended the Indiana-Iowa game on Sunday.

As a sophomore, Peschel led Sauk Centre to a state tournament appearance in 2009-10 while also becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer in the same season. She also was selected first team all-state by Minnesota Basketball News and the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association.

This season, Peschel has led Sauk Centre to a 13-1 record. The 6-1 guard is averaging 18.5 points per game.
