No. 9 Iowa leads Eastern Illinois 28-7 at halftime in Kinnick Stadium. Sophomore running back Adam Robinson ran for three touchdowns and Paki O'Meara blocked and returned an Eastern Illinois punt for a score.

Quarterback Ricky Stanzi was substituted out of the game early in the second quarter after his left knee appeared to buckle underneath him before being sacked by Eastern Illinois' Sean Campbell. The three-year starter returned to the field on the Hawkeyes' next drive.

Robinson scored on two and four-yard rushes in the first quarter, adding a six yard scamper in the second to give Iowa a 28-7 advantage.

O'Meara previously extended the Hawkeyes' lead to 21-0 when he blocked and returned a Kevin Cook punt 16 yards for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the opening quarter.

The Panthers had trimmed the Hawkeyes' lead to 21-7 on a Von Wise 11-yard touchdown reception two minutes into the second quater. Wise's score came two plays after quarterback Brandon Large found Chris Wright for a 37-yard pass.

Stanzi finished the half 11-of-13 for 134 yards. Robinson ran for 79 yards on 14 carries, and junior tight end Brad Herman added three catches for 57 yards.
