A.J. Edds’ career at Iowa may be over, but his list of collegiate football accolades continues to expand.

The former Hawkeye outside linebacker was selected Thursday as the 2010 recipient of the Michael J. Rabold Distinguished Player Award, which is giving annually to a player that competed in the Indiana High School North-South All-Star Game as a prep and has distinguished himself both on and off the field at the collegiate level.

Edds will be honored at the Grange Insurance Indiana North-South All-Star Classic at North Central High School in Indianapolis at 7 p.m. on July 16.

The Greenwood, Ind., native started the final 39 games of his career at Iowa, and he ranks 43rd in career tackles with 226.

He was named an honorable mention All-American in 2009 (College Football Insiders) and was also second team All-Big Ten. Edds also earned the Forest Evashevski Scholastic Achievement Award.

Edds was selected in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins, one of six Hawkeyes chosen.

Former Hawkeye defensive lineman Bryan Mattison received the same honor in 2008.
