The Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism has joined the Investigative News Network, a national consortium of 33 nonprofit news organizations.

Other members of the consortium include National Public Radio, the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University, the Center for Investigative Reporting, and the Center for Public Integrity.

By joining the consortium, the Iowa Center will receive opportunities to get involved with major regional and national projects in partnership with other nonprofit journalism organizations.

The Iowa Center was recently founded by a UI associate professor and graduate student: Stephen Berry, a faculty member of the UI School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Robert Gutsche Jr., a doctoral student in mass communication.

As an independent nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization, the center will publish investigative and explanatory reports at http://www.IowaWatch.org. The website will focus on in-depth coverage of local and state issues.
