For the second weekend in a row, the Iowa women’s tennis team split its two matches to go 1-1 on the road.

After enduring a 7-0 shutout against No. 9 Northwestern (16-6, 7-1) on April 17, the Hawkeyes (15-5, 5-4) picked up the pieces and finished with a 5-2 win over Wisconsin (6-13, 2-6) on Sunday.

The No. 14-ranked duo of senior Merel Beelen and sophomore Sonja Molnar extended their winning streak to seven and improved their overall doubles record to 12-1.

The Hawkeyes earned the doubles point following a win by Iowa senior Kelcie Klockenga and junior Jessica Young, 8-6.

Young was the first to finish her singles match, defeating Wisconsin’s Jessica Seyferth (6-3, 6-2).

Following junior Lynne Poggensee-Wei’s three-set singles loss, junior Alexis Dorr came through for her team and won her match (6-3, 6-3).

Klockenga followed Dorr with a 6-4, 6-3 win that solidified Iowa’s victory over the Badgers.

The No. 67-ranked Molnar also picked up a win in the No. 1 spot over Wisconsin’s Alaina Trgovich (7-6, 6-3).

The Hawkeyes will return home on Friday to conclude the regular season against Purdue at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex.
