A Cedar Rapids man accused of shooting an Iowa City man outside the now-closed Los Cocos bar has violated his probation, according to court documents.

Bernard Butler, 19, pleaded guilty to going armed with intent as well as intimidation with a serious weapon.

He was sentenced to pay a $750 fine for each count. He was also given two five-year prison terms, which were suspended.

Instead, beginning on April 12, Butler was to stay at the Larry Nelson Center in Cedar Rapids for one year. However, Butler did not report to the center, and his whereabouts are unknown.

According to court documents, Bernard Butler and Cortez Parker were at Los Cocos, 1921 Keokuk St., on Aug. 9, 2009, when Butler allegedly became intoxicated and shot the accuser. Parker sustained a serious injury.
