A Hawkeye defensive end charged with assault has now pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, according to online court records.

In January 2009, Adrian Clayborn was involved in an altercation with a taxi driver over a dispute during a traffic jam. According to court records, a friend had to restrain Clayborn after he struck the driver in the face.

The 21-year old, who was originally charged with assault causing bodily injury, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor. He has been sentenced to pay a $100 fine. His plea agreement for the original charge was supposed to be discussed on March 19.

Neither a representative from the Johnson County prosecutor’s office or Matthew Petrzelka, Clayborn’s lawyer, were available for comment Thursday.
