The Iowa softball team had a successful weekend in Minneapolis during the Metrodome Tournament, winning three of its first five games of the season.

The Hawkeyes (3-2) opened the 2010 campaign with a 2-1 loss to Arkansas but rebounded to beat Western Illinois, 2-1.

Iowa split its games on Feb. 13, as well, defeating Drake, 2-1, and losing to Iowa State, 8-2. The team wrapped up the weekend by beating Drake again, 7-3, on Sunday.

Two Hawkeyes earned All-Tournament honors — juniors Chelsey Carmody and Jenny Schuelke.

Carmody had six hits and two RBIs, and Schuelke hit the game-winning home run in Iowa’s victory over Western Illinois.

Senior Lindsey Digmann hit .412 during the five-game tourney, and fellow senior Katie Brown added a pair of home runs. Freshman pitcher Chelsea Lyon notched two wins.

The Hawkeyes will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, playing in the Littlewood Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
