Gatens a bright spot in defeat

Although the Iowa men’s basketball team lost 81-71 at Iowa State over the weekend, the Hawkeyes received a big performance from sophomore Matt Gatens, who finished with 20 points while playing all 40 minutes for Iowa.


AquaHawks lose to Cyclones

The loss dropped the AquaHawks to 4-3 overall this season; the Cyclones improved to 7-1.


Stanzi, Angerer share team MVP

Iowa senior linebacker Pat Angerer and junior quarterback Ricky Stanzi were named co-winners of the Roy J. Carver Most Valuable Player Award at the team’s annual awards banquet on Dec. 12.


Angerer honored

Iowa senior linebacker Pat Angerer was named to the Football Writers Association of America’s first All-America team on Dec. 12. He was one of only two Big Ten players to make the list.


UI earns officiating honor

UI senior A.J. Haduch received a bid to officiate at the flag-football national championships in Tampa.
