Discussion needed on errant war in Afghanistan
In Afghanistan, the “good war” is going badly, the “war of necessity” is believed by most Americans to be not worth fighting, and the war against “those who attacked us on 9/11” is being waged against the Afghan people rather than either Saudis or Qaeda members who are now said to be in Pakistan.
And the war we were told we were fighting against women’s oppression is opposed by the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan.
Zoya, a member of the group, will speak about Afghan women’s resistance to both U.S. occupation and Taliban fundamentalism on Oct. 5 in W10 Pappajohn Business Building. The event is sponsored by the Afghan Women’s Mission, the UI Antiwar Committee, and the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance. Please join us for this important discussion.
