Strong winds on Tuesday afternoon blew over a light post on Iowa Avenue. Traffic was quickly blocked off, and a Cambus avoided the light post by driving around it using the sidewalk.

The land pictured above is part of 173 acres purchased by the city of Iowa City for the purpose of developing a new industrial park, located off near 420th street. One of the main goals for the acquisition is to bring new jobs to the area.

Shoplifting has increased both nationwide and in Iowa City — the Iowa City Police report 123 incidents between January and May. There were 73 reported incidents over the same months in 2008, a 68.5 percent jump.
